A message from Gentil Mbarushimana

Gentil Mbarushimana - Founder of Twese Hamwe

Gentil Mbarushimana is the founder and driving force behind a nonprofit dedicated to restoring dignity and opportunity to vulnerable women and youth.

Born in 1989, Gentil experienced homelessness as a teenager after losing his father in 2006. He lived on the streets of Goma, Kigali, and Kampala, sleeping in bus stations, markets, and public spaces while facing hunger, illness, and isolation. Written off by many as having no future, Gentil survived through resilience, faith, and the compassion of strangers.

These experiences now shape the heart of his nonprofit work.

Mission Statement

The mission of the organization is to empower vulnerable women and youth through practical skills training, economic opportunity, and personal development—so they can build dignified, independent lives and break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.

Today, Gentil leads programs that provide hands-on training in hairdressing and tailoring, equipping participants with employable skills, confidence, and a pathway to long-term stability.

The organization exists to ensure that no one is left behind or forced to survive without dignity. Gentil's journey from homelessness to service is a testament to the power of compassion and the belief that when one life is restored, entire communities can.
